Operating Systems and Binary Code
Unit Overview:
The operating system is system software that is available on computers and can best be described as a commander in the sense that the user issues a command using the application software and interacts with the device drivers and hardware to manage a computer's resources. Operating systems also perform the tasks a file clerk would perform in that the system stores and retrieves files from the computer's hard drive and other storage devices. When your computer receives data, it converts the information into binary code which utilizes a number system that includes 0 and 1.
